End of Classes: Where are the true female MCs?!

I've been thinking of this subject since J started this blog and tonight I finally got the time!

WHERE ARE THE TRUE FEMALE MCS?!

When exploring this issue we must take a few notes into consideration:
  1. Rap has always been well chauvinistic and misogynistic...period.
  2. Few female rappers can stand the test of time ( MC Lyte started acting, Lauryn went crazy, Latifah went jazz, almost won an Oscar and became a Covergirl, Kim and Foxy got locked up)
  3. No one has yet to balance sexuality and being a lady in the game (is it that hard, everybody looks like a little boy or like they just left their night job)
  4. Some rappers have so much talent but are in some crazy crew situation and can't out to shine (Shawanna and DTP, Rah Digga and Flip Mode, Eve and Ruff Ryders/Aftermath*as of recent*)
In recent news Remy Ma is going jail for attempted murder and Foxy got out last week for assaulting people at nail salons and beauty supply stores (my people!).  VH1 and Ego Trip have tried to answer this problem with the new stereotype-filled show "Ms. Rap Supreme" featuring the lovely Khia's return to television for the first time since her hit "My neck, my back" (doesn't this just sound right for the rap game right now?)

WHERE ARE THE TRUE FEMALE MCS?!

But there is hope!
Here are some that have risen from the ashes of bad weaves, bullet wounds and glittered pasties:
  • Kid Sister: Markham breed MC and sister to FLOSSTRADAMUS' DJ J2K/ girlfriend of A-TRAK, her style is described as club rap but I like her clever lyrics and how she has nothing to hide in her interviews. She's like the cool girl in elementary school you always wanted to be your friend but was too scared to ask her to come over and play after school. Her album will be out on Fool's Gold some time this year.
  • Estelle: often called the "British Lauryn Hill", this chick from the other side of the pound can sing and puts together some sick rhymes with a fly mod style to match! Her new album is already went #1 in the UK which a HUGE deal for a black artists! Get up on it when it hits our shores.
Interestingly enough they both have songs to Kanye West(Kid Sister is from Chicago and A-TRAK is his tour DJ and Estelle is on John Legend's label)... maybe he's seeing the future of the game and it has a bit more estrogen in it!

Seem like the key to success as a female rapper is not get locked up, have tight rhymes and don't show too much T&A!

Simple right?

Oh I knew I was going to miss someone...
Dang!

I've heard of her but I haven't heard her music yet
I've been out of the music loop since I've been getting my life together.

When finals are over next week...expect a soul-searching phone call!

My sis, my sis-- you are on point jo! So proud, so proud!!

But seriously- can we get a female with class and grace that won't show all her ass and tities?? Like a Gabrielle Union who's sick on the mic that will LAST?? That's all I want, but the prospects (including my girl Jean Grae) are looking good- thank God!!)
