VIDEO: Ambassador - "Gimme Dat"
Good people. Most folks who have never even heard of gospel rap have heard of Cross Movement. He along with Lecrae and Da T.R.U.T.H. are helping to open a lot of doors for guys coming up (read: J.Kwest). Now that 106 & Park will be doing a Gospel Show (yes) this will open a lot of doors. Hopefully this blows. Check it out.

The song is o-k, and just o-k...better than a lot of other gospel rap songs I've heard. The story within the video is the best part of this to me. But, and not being a hater or anything, I think that if we're to do something for God it should be done with excellence, right? Music, as another form of artwork should be unique, creative, and (especially in gospel rap's case) inspirational. What Ambassador did here was good but not to the fullest measure of each of these three criteria in my opinion. Just because you mention Jesus does not automatically make the song outstanding.
this is absolutely unlistenable.
and this is coming from someone who still thinks House of Reps & Christology are near flawless records.
Gimmie Dat is unoriginal, bland, and boring.
but the church will love it.
This song was terrible and I think I missed the concept of the video in the midst of the terribleness of this T-Pain/Akon nonsense. I am being harsh because I am a fan of Cross Movement...I own their albums.
I agree with Moral One...House of Reps and Christology were dope records..I don't know if Ambassador thinks he is evolving with the trends or what...but just stick to Hip-Hop!
I always want to know who "Gospel Rappers" are trying to reach. I always here "Gospel MC's" say they're music is for the lost...but when I listen I feel that if I wasn't saved myself that I would need a Degree in Theology to actually get what there talking about.
I'm mos def not hating on them cause I grew up listening to these cats, it just seems to me that they will always reach one audience and thats the church. I want to see them stretch themselves as ministers and Artist.
