"Sick" Dreams: Who are YOU inspiring?

So as you may know I'm dealing with this fever, which has grown into "You need to see the doctor" status, and I've been in the bed pretty much since I returned from NC and the Zone (whattup). Well, besides a quick run to see Dark Knight, which was at least 5 different kinds of awesome. When you're sick you have these vivid dreams that always come off as real no matter how ridiculous they may seem. So here are my sick dreams.

Friday night: Myself, my mother, aunt, uncle, and cousin were planning to rob a bank. They were excellent plans, sort of like a combination of Danny Ocean/Bond/Thomas Crown/Inside Man, and no one was going to get hurt. None of us even needed $$$, we just wanted to rob a bank. So as a cover we decided to pick a bank in River Oaks (because no one robs a bank in their own city, right? lol) And just as we had pulled up to the bank on a quiet Saturday morning, I woke up...

POSITIVE THAT DREAMS NEVER CONTINUE THROUGH THE NEXT NIGHT, I shrugged it off and lay in my sweaty hole for another turn and kick fest.

Saturday night: The dream STARTS with me in the parking lot, and I'm the driver. Soon enough my MOTHER, aunt, uncle and cousin all pour out of the side of the bank with what can only be referred to as "a lot of money." We make it home safely. No chase no nothing. It seems we have gotten away. We decide to part ways Dead Presidents-style and lay low for at least a year. Then we emerge as baller-shot-callers (with a pool on the 3rd floor). But J.Kwest is a momma's boy. So he goes to visit his mother to see how she's holding up. Somehow our cover is blown, and I wake up with the police on their way to the crib.

AT THIS POINT, I get the lesson: Everything comes to the light; You can't win with sin; etc. I spend most of Sunday in bed thinking about this dream, and thanking God for the lesson out of it: no matter what, JUST DO RIGHT. I fall asleep again, hoping to have a new dream.

Sunday night: no dice. We're in the kitchen. Moms and I. The blame game starts. How did we get caught? Then my little brother comes in the room and asks what's going on? He has NO CLUE of any of this. Now my mother and I are going to jail. Who raises the little guy? We didn't even need the $$$; we don't even know where it is (I probably bought that Simpson's Arcade game I've always wanted). We're felons now. Even when we get out of jail, we can't vote, we can't work, we have nothing. All of this starts crossing our minds at once, and I instantly start crying. Why didn't I think of this before I decided to rob a bank? All of the people we've hurt...then I woke up.

This morning, sweaty, in tears and really done with being sick I went to God to inquire why a sick person should have such vivid dreams (I'm telling you, I robbed a bank this weekend). I thought, "Okay God, I won't rob a bank" but it's not about that. A sin is a sin, whether you rob a bank or sell a dime bag (or buy one) that destroys our community or spend all day on the internet watching porn or idolizing rappers and gym shoes. It's all the same. My dream series isn't about the sin, it's about the people we hurt when we pursue OUR OWN SELF. God reveals to us people who are depending on us (just like my little bro depends on moms and me) and when we sin or engage in self-pleasurification (or outright idolatry. Don't lie, you idolize that blog/site. You go there more than you talk to God) when we engage in those things we are hurting more people than ourselves. When we smoke, when we lust, when we go just a little too far, who else are you hurting? Sin doesn't only destroy souls it destroys relationships, families, and communities (you've seen an example of each in your own life). The point is, if you aren't going to think about saving your own soul this week, protect someone else's.

As the great JESUS say, "if any one of you (pointing at us) causes one of these little ones to stumble, it would be better that you were never born." We can argue this, but not really: Our sin or personal demon almost never remains solitary. It wants to inspire others. It wants company. Who are you inspiring right now? To do what?

Asheville Day 1: White Valedictorians and Black Bears

Seriously. I go to pick up my phone and it says "SunCom" instead of T-Mobile, which means I'm roaming to the ends of the Earth. At least Breeve and I are rooming together, which is also kind of weird because we're a bit grown. But the time away from the city is needed so we can regroup and write the classic you've been waiting for. B.I.G went to Miami; VK goes to Asheville. If you see a bear, stand still...

Good Thoughts For This Week

Well this week because J and Breeve have been extremely busy doing great things, I have decided to step in and post a few things to make the people smile. I have included a few videos that serve little to no relevant purpose even when they were created. First, this one is for J. We are both 2wo of the biggest Mike fans around and I'm sure many folks have never seen this ridiculous commercial for Suzuki that I'm sure he never thought would ever be seen on this continent. is the message. What is the girl's purpose?

Next, we have one for the homie Rob. This is something that I often sing to myself to this day and I fondly remember seeing this commercial many times a Saturday morning while waiting to see Lisa Turtle go to Home Economics or something. Please....CHECK IT OUUUUTTTT

This last one is purely for me. This is one of the guys that I really admired as a kid for some strange reason. I used to watch Breakin 2: Electric Boogalu on VHS every day and then one of my college roommates used to act out many scenes on the yard as well. (That is the most ridiculous movie ever.) I have no further explanation for this...

...Carry On...smh

Ok, now that that's over. A couple of things for this week. Please focus on something that resonates with me all the time and it is a mantra that J lives by. What would you do if you knew that you could not fail?

Wait...picture it...ok...go do it. That's so real for us as we continue to work to spread PureMusic to the masses.

Also, later this week look out for the first shot (Boom, Thwak, or Yargo) from the long awaited Batman & Batman project. It's sure to be a doosy!

Make it a blessed week and may the peace of God always be with you all!

I'm pretty sure Im not bugging out, but lets talk about it

So Im at the hospital and my little cousin who is about 7 years old with a complexion that is a beautiful deep black is walking around with a doll that is white as the pure driven snow and a fake cell phone with a picture of Cinderella on the front.

*Do you think its wrong for me to want her to have some black toys?
*If she has some black dolls is it ironic that these are the toys she chooses to take out of the      house?
*Do you think society fails to promote positive images of DARK girls? Not African American but DARK.
*Is playing with white dolls really damaging to her self image?

Keep in mind...

“I’m kinda racist… I don’t really like dark butts too much… It’s rare that I do dark butts. Like really rare… It’s like, no darker than me. No darker than me.”

Also this is not just an American thing brought on by slavery. This is international. You'll catch this at the end in this ACTUAL COMMERCIAL overseas. Just getting the conversation started yall!

I do this for YOU lil' homie

The good man Ant Pharm sent me this video which is outrageous. First of all it's HILARIOUS. Secondly, once you remember this is a child, you'll say "J, for real...We need PureMusic"

It's not much I can even say about young Latarian Milton, except that he's a GROWN MAN, and this speaks to the state of families, education, and EVERYTHING we need to look closer at in our world. We HAVE to bring God into the situation. At all costs.

Young Latarian Milton, from now on, I DO THIS FOR YOU

Some Stuff...

also, check out the new links to friends, including Ramenberry (whattup Sheri)
also, if you're on facebook, befriend the kid. search "J.Kwest" or "BreevEazie" and hit us up. Then join the fan page. But tell no one of our government names. "Julian" totally ruins my gangster image

Stop laughing now, back to seriousness...

Then, go read this scripture: 1 Timothy 4:12. I've been spending the night going through J.Kwest/Puremusic stuff (to rework how we present ourselves) and I found this scripture on a lot of the early stuff we put out. I realized that this scripture defines what I hope the music will do. Inspire all to DO THIS STUFF. Love yall.

I'm sure only jokes will follow, but take some time and think about the scripture too.
